One of the greatest mysteries may have possibly been solved by two renowned Italian Archaeologists. The lost army of Persian King Cambyses II was said to have disappeared on there way to attack the Oasis of Siwa and destroy the oracle at the Temple of Amun after the priests there refused to legitimize his claim to Egypt.
"It all started in 1996, during an expedition aimed at investigating the presence of iron meteorites near Bahrin, one small oasis not far from Siwa," Alfredo Castiglioni, director of the Eastern Desert Research Center (CeRDO)in Varese, told Discovery News.To read the entire story of the long journey it took to discover this amazing find, and even more fascinating army, visit Discovery Channel. On a side note, I would personally like to thank Discovery Channel for featuring the Ancient Digger on their Blogroll. It's an honor and a thrill to be associated with such an innovative and amazing establishment.

1. That the Greeks would stand in unity against the Persians. They would fight together and die together. It wasn't about "the man" anymore, it was about "the people".
2. They underestimated Greece. Same thing Napoleon did with Russia. Nothing uncommon there. It's called arrogance.
3. Aegean Sea
5. To expand the already big Persian empire.
14. Xerxes I of Persia
15. Iran
I'm not gonna give the rest away, would make your homework too easy! ;)
