Five Fun Suspension Bridges

Do all of you remember than scene in Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom when Indiana is crossing the rope suspension bridge? That particular suspension bridge was made by British engineers working on the nearby Balfour Beatty dam.

NickFord discusses rope suspension bridges all over the globe which offer a cheap and practical way of making river crossings. Some of the most spectacular can be found in remote areas with rugged terrain and an under-developed infrastructure. Read more about rope suspension bridges in Nicks full article, pictures included.

I do indeed remember that scene. I also remember back farther, when the excitement and suspense of such a bridge would appear on the Old Tarzan movies. There was always someone on the other side trying to cut it.

But wow, with my fear of heights, just looking at PHOTOS of these gives me major stomach knots!! the courage to actually use them, to cross them? No way!

While it looks suspenseful and somewhat inviting it does seem a bit too precarious for my taste. Love the photos though.

I would love to try traveling across a suspension bridge. I wonder if I would have the nerve to do it when I got there.

Time-lapse Reconstruction of Eodromaeus, the "Dawn Runner"

On January 13, 2011, a team of Argentinian and American researchers announced the discovery of a lanky dinosaur that roamed South America in search of prey as the age of dinosaurs began, approximately 230 million years ago. Sporting a long neck and tail and weighing only 10 to 15 pounds, the new dinosaur has been named Eodromaeus, the "dawn runner."
