Tomb of Tutankhamun Recreated

This month marks the 90th anniversary of the discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamun by Howard Carter.


The High resolution recording and production of an exact facsimile of the Tomb of Tutankhamun is part of a major initiative by the Supreme Council of Antiquities to preserve the tombs in the Valley of the Kings.

The project is being run by the University of Basel with permission from the Supreme Council of Antiquities. The agreement covers the tombs of Seti I, Nefertari and Tutankhamun.

Factum Art spent two months in the most famous of tombs scanning it in 3D. All the details were digitalized, even the accumulated dust. After the recording, the processing of data and the production of the tomb and the sarcophagus of Tutankhamun was carried out in Factum Art's warehouse in Madrid.

The Egyptian government will install the replica of the tomb in the Valley of the Kings (Egypt) and will shut the authentic one in order to preserve it.

Discovery News: King Tut's DNA Revealed

On February 17th, the results of King Tut's DNA will be revealed by noted Archaeologist, Zahi Hawass, chief of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities. The DNA will be tested against several hundred mummies in order to test the theory that Amenhotep III was his father.

The long awaited announcement will be "about the secrets of the family and the affiliation of Tutankhamun, based on the results of the scientific examination of the Tutankhamun mummy following DNA analysis," Hawass said in a statement. TUTANKHAMUN AND THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE PHARAOHS

The traveling exhibition, TUTANKHAMUN AND THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE PHARAOHS, is coming to a city near you.

King Tut was an Egyptian Pharaoh of the Eighteenth dynasty during the period of Egyptian history known as the New Kingdom.His death is the subject of mass speculation by researchers and Archaeologists.

"The exhibition features 50 objects from the tomb of Tutankhamun including the gold sandals that adorned the mummies feet and a beautifully adorned canopic jar that mummified his internal organs."-National Geographic

In addition to the treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamun, 80 ancient artifacts are featured, which highlight many of the most significant rulers of ancient Egypt such as Khefren, whose great pyramid is the only remaining structure of the seven wonders of the ancient world and Hatshepsut, the queen who became king.-National Geographic
