Ferdine, an architectural historian based in the North East of England, says Lindsfarne Castle is located on Holy Island, a jewel of the spectacular Northumberland coast. Built in the 16th century, the castle sits on the highest point of the island, a whin stone hill called Beblowe. The castle was extensively altered by the great English architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in the early 20th century.

ReplyDeleteThank for putting this info on your site about the castle. I enjoyed using it as a stepping off point. I went and read more on the other article you lined to. It was very interesting to read about all of the different architectural aspects of the castle as it has changed over the years.
