How about adding Newgrange: http://www.newgrange.com/ to your list? It's had a bit of a facelift but the essential structure is over 5000 years old, which makes it older than anything on your list - including the pyramids! It's an amazing feat of stonework and engineering considering the workers probably didn't even have the wheel - they constructed it in such a way that on the winter solistice light from the rising sun would fill the inner chamber, which remains dark for 364 days of the year.
Awesome post! Gret blog too. :o)
ReplyDeleteMy Mum was born in Alexandria.
Thanks so much for the comments. This is a new deal for me, but I really wanted to share what I was planning on doing the rest of my life.
ReplyDeleteGreat post - been to a number of these but not all. I doubt I shall ever get to the top of Everest now!

ReplyDeleteHi Riana,
ReplyDeleteNewgrange was 500 years older than the pyramid but, it wasn't documented during 200BC.
One thought was that the list was arranged after the reign of Alexander the Great. I guess he didn't think it was worthy of being on the list.
